Core Specialty Training in Emergency Medicine (CSTEM 1-3yrs)

 During Core Specialist Training (CSTEM Yr 1-3), trainees will rotate through:

 

  • Emergency Medicine (18 months)
  • Acute Medicine (6 months) or Trauma & Orthopaedics or Plastic Surgery (6 months)
  • Paediatric Emergency Medicine or Acute Paediatrics (6  months)
  • Anaesthesia/Critical Care (6 months)

Throughout Core Training, trainees work towards successful completion of the Membership Exam of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (MRCEM)/Intermediate FRCEM.

Satisfactory completion of 3 years Core Training, coupled with success in the MRCEM/Intermediate FRCEM Exam, triggers the award of a Certificate of Completion of Core Training (CCCT), a prerequisite for entry to Advanced Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine (Yr’s 4-7).
