Fellowship and Membership of RCSI

RCSI has been supporting surgeons in Ireland and abroad for over 230 years.

Fellowship and Membership of RCSI provide surgical professionals and trainees professional accreditation from one of the most prestigious and respected surgical bodies, with strong educational, clinical and collegiate support.

RCSI works on behalf of the surgical profession to enhance the health and healthcare of surgical patients. Through endeavour, innovation and collaboration in education, research and service, RCSI helps to establish and maintain the highest standards of surgical training and practice.

The opportunity to become a Fellow or Member of RCSI is a privilege that is only earned through hard work and an uncommon dedication to excellence.

Membership

There are currently two pathways to achieving Membership of RCSI.

  • The first is by examination, further information in which can be found here.
  • RCSI also accepts Members who would like to transfer their MRCS qualification from other royal colleges. For further details on this pathway, please contact the Fellows and Members Office directly at fellows@rcsi.ie.

Fellowship

Fellowship by Examination

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI) is normally awarded on successful completion of the FRCS examination. Further information on this pathway can be found here.

Fellowship Ad Eundem

Fellowship Ad Eundem of the College is offered to surgeons who, in the opinion of the College, have reached a standard of professional qualification and professional practice equivalent to that required for the Fellowship by examination of the RCSI. It is a privilege earned through hard work and commitment to excellence.
