Association of Medical and Dental Graduates' AGM and Annual Lecture

The Association of Medical and Dental Graduates' AGM and Annual Lecture took place on Friday, 28th of April 2017.

The evening commenced with an update from the President on the Association, Mr Mayilone Arumugasamy FRCSI (Class of 1993) on the numerous highlights of the year, in particular:

-The Association's Annual Dinner in November which welcomed the greatest attendance to the black tie event to date, with 174 graduates and guests who packed the "Old Exam Hall". He thanked the Association committee members and alumni office who helped organise and arrange all the spot prizes for the night and encouraged early bookings for next year.

- The highly successful Alumni Gathering 2016 saw more than 400 alumni from 11 class years return to celebrate milestone reunions in August. The Association sponsor the Welcome Reception and a personal highlight to the President was the presentation of scrolls to Jubilarians who were 50, 60 and 70 years qualified.

- Welcoming the new graduates of 2016 to the Association during the conferring events in June

-The Association's proud support of research in RCSI over the years and recent presentations to Niteline and the RCSI Environmental Society.

The Association also presented its annual RCSI Best Society Award to the College's Paediatric Society. The Association chose the Paediatric Society as this year's winner due to their community involvement in hosting the now-annual Teddy Bear Hospital, an interactive event aimed at educating local children and their parents about healthcare and well-being through the diagnosis and healing of their teddies.

The AGM was followed by the Annual Lecture which this year was delivered by Dr Blánaid Hayes, Consultant Occupational Physician Beaumont Hospital & Dean, Faculty of Occupational Medicine, RCPI on the topic of ‘Workplace Stress in Hospital Doctors: Sources, Signs and Solutions'. A highly topical and pertinent subject which was reflected by the very active Q&A therafter.

The evening closed with an informal and convivial supper in the College Boardroom
