Green Campus registration signing
Prof. Hannah McGee (Dean, Faculty of Heath Sciences, RCSI) signs the Green Campus registration form on behalf RCSI. An Taisce is represented by Deirdre O’Carroll, Green Campus Manager; Dublin City Council is represented by Niamh Ní Cholmain, Biodiversity Facilitator.
This event marks an important milestone in the journey towards Green Campus Status for RCSI. Run by An Taisce, the Green Campus Programme encourages a partnership approach to environmental education, management and action in third level institutions. The Programme primarily aims to ensure that members of a campus community can engage in a meaningful way to enhance sustainability on campus.
The RCSI Green Campus Committee (formed in early 2016) will undertake an environmental review; advise on an action plan, which will inform a green charter for RCSI. The ultimate goal for the committee is to obtain An Taisce Green Campus accreditation for RCSI. The RCSI Green Campus Committee is chaired by Prof. Brendan Kavanagh and membership includes both staff and student representatives.
Seated (L-R): Niamh Ní Cholmain (Dublin City Council), Hannah MaGee (Dean, Faculty of Heath Sciences, RCSI), Deirdre O'Carroll (An Taisce).
Standing: Members of the RCSI Green Campus Committee: Brendan Kavanagh, Emese Balogh, Liz McNicholl, Bryan Sheils, Eric Clarke, Kate Kelly, Ahmed Zainy, Jin Ji Lim, Leena Waqar Ahmad, Israa Alzarmah.
