27 September 2017
No. 26 York Street will feature on RTÉ One on Monday 2nd October for an hour long special documentary presented by TV architect Dermot Bannon

Filmed over two years, "Dermot Bannon & The Big Build” follows the journey of the build from its first inception, through to design, construction and its recent opening.

The documentary follows the progress of the construction featuring interviews at various stages of the build with Construction Manager Carole Smillie of Bennett Construction and Lead Architect Peter McGovern, Director of Henry J Lyons Architects, along with a number of familiar RCSI figures, including RCSI President John Hyland, who are due to appear.

Dermot Bannon & The Big Build” concludes with the unveiling of a world class healthcare education facility, designed to accommodate lecture theatres, an auditorium, a gym, a library and state of the art surgical and simulation training facilities in a city centre location.

The show also covers how challenges were overcome such as Dublin’s planning regulations stipulating that the building must remain in scale with the streetscape around it, which is only five stories high, by building down underground to create the deepest basement in Dublin.
