The aim of this PhD is to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of CDK inhibitors for GBM patients. More Information.

PhD: Dr Darren Griffith - Combating Antibiotic Resistance with Novel Bismuth-Biomolecular Conjugates

During this project, candidates will develop bismuth conjugates, which possess (i) the antibacterial properties of bismuth and (ii) antimicrobial and targeting properties associated with specific biomolecules of interest and will overcome bacterial resistance. More Information.

PhD: Dr Oran Kennedy - Bone-Cartilage Crosstalk in Post Traumatic Osteoarthritis after Acute Joint Injury

The aim of this PhD project is to develop novel cell-culture and animal models to understand the role of subchondral bone in PTOA initiation and progression. More Information.

PhD: Dr Marco Monopoli - Biomarker Assay for Precision Medicine

Candidates are currently being sought for an IRC grant application submission for a PhD by research in Biomarker Assay Development. More Information.

MSc: Dr Declan Patton - Management of venous leg ulcers

Two candidates are currently being sought for submission of an IRC grant application for a Masters by research in the management of venous leg ulcers. More Information.

FUNDED PhD: Dr Finbarr Leacy - Biostatistics

The project seeks to find a highly motivated student to carry out a study focused on the evaluation of health policies in the Irish healthcare setting using state-of-the-art causal inference methods. The successful candidate will apply existing propensity score and instrumental variable approaches to nationally representative databases, cohort studies and disease registries; developing extensions of these approaches where necessary. More Information.

FUNDED PhD: Dr Oran Kennedy - Arthritis, Joint Disease, Mechanobiology

The project seeks to find a highly motivated student to investigate the role of subchondral bone in post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA), which typically affects a younger population (often highly active, such as athletes) compared with age-related osteoarthritis. The successful candidate will be based in the Tissue Engineering Research Group at RCSI applying novel approaches to detect PTOA progression and investigating drug delivery systems that will mitigate joint degeneration. More Information.

PhD: Maria Morgan - Molecular & Cellular Therapeutics

This project will address the role of hydroxyapatite in M1/M2 macrophage differentiation and the potential biological consequences of hydroxyapatite-derived macrophages in exacerbating tumor progression. More Information.

PhD: Tracy Robson - Molecular & Cellular Therapeutics

This project brings together the expertise staff within Molecular & Cellular Therapeutics and collaborators within the pharmaceutical industry. More Information.

PhD: Dr Marco Monopoli - Pharmaceutical and Medical Chemistry

Nanoparticles are believed to radically change the way we treat diseases. Because of their small size, they can directly interact with biomolecules in a completely different way and their behavior in biology is still not fully understood. More Information.
