Events
RCSI hosts a range of events for Fellows & Members throughout the year which address key issues and challenges facing the surgical community.
Key events for Fellows and Members include:
Charter Day Meeting
Charter Day Meeting is hosted annually in February to commemorate the College's establishment by Royal Charter in 1784. Involving intercollegiate case presentations, parallel speciality sessions as well as the Johnson & Johnson Lecture and culminating with the prestigious Colles Lecture.
Millin Meeting
Sir Terence Millin Meeting is held in November annually in memory of Sir Terence Millin, an outstanding Urological Surgeon. Some of the most challenging contemporary issues facing Irish surgeons and trainees are explored through a series of presentations throughout the day followed by the Millin Lecture.In addition Fellows and Members are encouraged to participate in and attend numerous Scientific Meetings held both in RCSI St Stephens Green, regionally throughout the country and internationally each year.
Fellows & Members' Regional Meetings
The purpose of the Regional Meetings is to provide an informal forum in which to discuss the role RCSI can play in support of our Fellows and Members, as well as to facilitate feedback. Previous meetings have been held in Sligo, Wexford, Cork and Eniskillen. Each meeting will be followed by an informal supper and CPD credits will be awarded to attendees.
Next Regional Meeting: Limerick
RCSI’s next Regional Meeting which will be held in the Strand Hotel Limerick, on Friday, 4th November at 6pm and will be immediately followed by an informal supper hosted by RCSI.
This Regional Meeting is part of our ongoing engagement strategy with you, our Fellows & Members. RCSI has previously hosted meetings in Sligo, Waterford, Cork, Enniskillen, Galway and Belfast and we hope that this meeting will provide an informal forum to openly discuss how RCSI can support you and your surgical career.

Conferring Ceremonies
Conferring Ceremonies are one of the most popular events in the College calendar. They are our chance to welcome you, our new Fellows and Members, and your guests to RCSI. There are three major conferring ceremonies for new Fellows and Members of RCSI each year and they take place in July (RCSI, Dublin), November (RCSI, Bahrain) and December (RCSI, Dublin).
REPORT: Regional Meeting - Belfast, Friday, 13th May 2016
As part of the 2016 ASGBI Conference, RCSI hosted a regional Fellows & Members meeting in Belfast which was attended by over 30 Fellows & Members in the region.
Commenting on the event, RCSI President, Mr Declan J. Magee said "These meetings provide an opportunity for us to highlight important topical activities of the College but, more importantly, to hear from our Members & Fellows on matters concerning the role and relevance of the College to surgeons in practice."
