International surgical skills courses
RCSI offers a wide range of surgical skills courses both in Ireland and overseas. Each course serves a different purpose and is aimed at different surgical training levels.
The MRCS Part B (OSCE) preparation course
Due to the limited number of attempts for MRCS Part B it is crucial that candidates sit the exam only after undertaking intense preparation. RCSI offers this two-day intensive course particularly designed to prepare surgical trainees for this exam.
The course covers the core content of the exam and is designed to assist the candidates in their exam prepartion and to improve their examination technique. It has mock OSCEs, interactive workshops, and group discussions in the areas of: applied surgery/critical care, clinical/procedural skills, anatomy/surgical pathology, and communications.
This course is run twice a year in Ireland and in other rotating international locations. The next course will take place on January 6th and 7th 2016 in Dublin. Applications are now open.
Intercollegiate Basic Surgical Skills Course
RCSI offers the Intercollegiate Basic Surgical Skills Course (IBSS) in various locations in Ireland and overseas throughout the year.
This course has been designed to introduce surgical trainees to safe surgical practice within a controlled workshop environment. It aims to teach, assess and certify the ability of trainees to use safe and sound surgical techniques that are common to all forms of surgery.
We are delighted to announce that RCSI will be offering its first Intercollegiate Basic Surgical Skills Course in Dubai on January 20th, 21st and 22nd 2016 in the Khlalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Centre.
This three-day technical teaching course is led by a group of RCSI’s International Faculty. Targeted at trainees in the earliest stage of Surgical Training, the course aims to provide participants with instruction and experience in basic techniques for all types of surgery. For information about the specific content of the course, please check the course flyer.
Please note that places for this course will be very limited. Interested candidates can register now for AED 3,000 (€750). Any queries should be addressed to Surgery International, RCSI at surgeryINTL@rcsi.ie.
