Membership and fellowship examinations: Ophthalmology

The MRCSI (Ophthalmology) Examination is aimed at trainees in their first three years of ophthalmic training, known in Ireland as basic specialist training. The attainment of the MRCSI is an entry requirement for the FRCSI (Ophthalmolgy)

 

Changes to the format and timing of the Examinations 

The last diet of the existing format of the MRCSI (Ophth) examination will be held on 6 September 2017 for the Part 2 Written and 13 October 2017 for the Part 2 Clinical.

All candidates who are eligible to sit the existing format of the MRCSI (Ophth) Examinations are advised to attempt the final diet of the existing examinations in 2017.

From 2018 onward, the existing format will be discontinued and all candidates will sit the new format of the examination (providing they meet the eligibility criteria).
