Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Coláiste Ríoga na Máinleá in Éirinn

Culture Night 2017

At RCSI, we are reimaging the future of healthcare education in Ireland with the opening of our new student learning and education centre at No. 26 York Street.

This high-tech building is a healthcare knowledge hub that brings together inspiring educators, experienced clinicians, ground-breaking researchers and healthcare policy leaders. Over 10 floors, this 120,000 square foot complex is a game-changer in terms of healthcare education.

On Culture Night, visitors will be invited to discover the National Surgical & Clinical Skills Centre is the first of its kind in Ireland, and the largest and most advanced in Europe. Visitors can experience the state-of-the-art surgical and training suite with clinical skills labs, mock operating theatre, and patient rooms which occupy the top three floors.

RCSI Library will be hosting visitors in the new library spaces and showcasing how RCSI is blending digital resources and services to provide a modern space. A series of old medical and surgical innovations and inventions by RCSI staff will be highlighted through a digital exhibition across the whole building.

Activities for Culture Night at RCSI include the screening of a short film, commissioned for the College’s 1916 commemorative programme, which takes viewers on a journey through RCSI's history from its foundation in 1784, through the historical events of 1916, and ending with a glimpse into the futuristic healthcare technology being developed by the College.

Take a self-guided tour or speak to a member of the RCSI Culture Night team to learn more about how RCSI has shaped local and national history and the future of healthcare education.
