Clinical Research Centre

Dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in basic and applied research, the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) www.rcsicrc.ie, Royal College of Surgeons recognises that vertical integration of basic research with pharmacy and therapeutics provides the greatest opportunity to translate basic medical research findings into clinical practice. The CRC is committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to facilitate research, and vertical integration in partnership with the academia and the commercial sector in order to gain a better understanding of how drugs work on humans, and to develop life-enhancing therapies through clinical trials and basic research.

The driving force of the CRC is excellence in patient-orientated research. The CRC is a fully integrated facility providing access to clinical trial services, products and expertise from the RCSI's medical school, campus biotech companies and Ireland's leading teaching hospital.

The unit, which is amongst the most advanced in Europe, provides general research laboratories, examination rooms, inpatient and outpatient beds, procedure rooms equipped for gene therapy and ancillary services consistent with a world-class research facility. It is staffed by a team of experienced research professionals, including a medical director, medical, nursing and research personnel, and also has its own administrator and systems manager.
