IP Management

The Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) has two key objectives in relation to research commercialisation:

  • To provide high quality services to assist and support the College's research staff in identifying and protecting innovations and intellectual property assets.
  • Maximise value of the College's Intellectual Property assets through commercialisation in partnership with industry and entrepreneurs.

  The office provides information and support in the following areas:  

  • Advice on the development of projects with commercial potential
  • Help in applying for grant funding to develop technology to a more commercially ready state
  • Support for all forms of industry engagement:     

            1. To inform commercially relevant research
            2. To perform collaborative research
            3. To perform industry fully funded research

  • Intellectual property management and patent filing
  • Negotiation of IP agreements:

            1. Non-Disclosure or Confidentiality Agreements
            2. Material Transfer Agreements
            3. Intellectual Property Assignments and Management Agreements
            4. License Agreements including, Option Agreements and, Evaluation Licenses
            5. Collaborative Agreements with third parties including industry
            6. Shareholders Agreements, start-up company advice and mentoring

  • Commercialisation of research by:

            1. Spin off
            2. Licensing
            3. Co-development with Industry
