Postgraduate Student Union

The School of Postgraduate Studies works closely with the Postgraduate Student Union (PGSU) to foster good relations between postgraduate students and RCSI management and staff and to encourage peer-to-peer activities among postgraduates. The aims of the Postgraduate Student Union are:
  • The protection and promotion of the interests of all full-time research postgraduate students in College.
  • The provision of social and recreational facilities for its members.
  • The fostering of friendly relations and understanding among postgraduate students throughout College.
  • The taking of any steps that are, in the opinion of the Union, conducive to the forgoing aims.

The Union will represent and defend the interests of full-time postgraduate research students on Department, School, Faculty and College Committees and is empowered to negotiate with College on all matters concerning both the employment of postgraduate students and the remuneration for such employment within College.

All postgraduate students of the College are automatically full members of the Union upon registration. The PGSU organises a variety of activities including a careers day event, writing Skills seminars, welcome reception for new postgraduates as well as social events.
