Vascular Biology is a key strategic research area for RCSI being led by Professor James O'Donnell who joined RCSI earlier this year. The vascular biology team work closely with Cardiologists and physicians based in Beaumont Hospital through the RCSI Clinical Research Centre.

The following themes are of particular interest: 

  • von Willebrand disease (vWD) 
  • Hemostasis and Thrombosis 
  • Hypertension.
  • Platelet Biology, platelet interactions with bacteria, cancer and malaria.
