Student welfare

The Student Welfare Office is an open, caring and confidential service which provides support to all RCSI students.

The Student Welfare Officers can guide students with up to date information on all RCSI policies and procedures and, where necessary, act as an advocate on a student’s behalf.

Some of the main areas where students receive support include:

Personal/non-academic Issues

  • Short / long term illness
  • Issues with family/classmates
  • Anxiety/stress management
  • Depression/low mood/acute mental health issues

Academic issues/study skills

  • Academically weak
  • Repeating/failed exams
  • Guidance in preparing for OSCEs/clinical examination/anatomy practicals


  • Beaumont: The Student Welfare Office is located in the RCSI Student Centre, just next to the student common area with the couches and football table.
  • St Stephen’s Green: The Student Welfare Office is located next to the College Hall and Sir Thomas Myles Room on the first floor.
