Undergraduate research

RCSI fosters early development of research skills within our undergraduate student body. Development of student research skills nurtures innovative thinking, supports career development and produces multi-disciplinary thinkers providing a core foundation of skills which will aid progression through postgraduate professional development within their chosen disciplines.

RCSI is an advocate of translational research and places value on producing health professionals whose future practices will be evidenced based and will drive development of wider advances in health. The RCSI Undergraduate Research Steering Group (URSG) has been formed to co-ordinate and govern the many and diverse activities supporting undergraduate research activity within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

There are many organisations that provide funding schemes to enable promising, eligible, undergraduate students to work in an institutional research laboratory during summer vacations. Funding amounts and submission dates vary, therefore for specific details please visit the individual websites and contact the funding organisations directly.
